The mother of Stanley Willard Henson, Jr, a physician and Thelma Burnell Henson, Michele Carey whose birth name is Michele Lee Henson was born on February 26, 1942, in Annapolis, Maryland in the United States of America. She had a prodigious piano playing as a teenager and she took home the national prize at the Chicago Music Festival at just 13 years old.
